Odisha: Maoist Leader Kishore Killed In Gun Battle With Security Forces
Malkangiri: –Maoist leader Kishore was killed during an exchange of fire with security forces at Jantri forest in Odisha’s Malkangiri district today, reports said. He was the military platoon commander of the banned CPI (Maoist).
According to official sources, the body has been recovered while another Maoist who sustained injuries in the gun battle was being evacuated. No security forces were injured.
Acting on reliable information regarding the presence of the extremists in the forest, the security forces had launched an operation. As they reached near the hideout of the Maoists, the ultras opened fire at them.
During retaliation by the security forces, Kishore was gunned down while another Maoist sustained bullet injuries.
Combing operation in the area has been intensified by the security forces after the incident. Explosives, arms including an AK-47 rifle, and other articles have been seized from the spot.
